Top 5 Baby Must Haves

New Baby on the way? Where do you even begin when it comes to baby items. The market is so saturated and as a first time mama it is so overwhelming. Trust me, we may have bought way more than needed and then some. For example…all of the super adorable new born outfits…it’s great to have a couple but don’t go overboard. Sleepers are your new best friend as you are endlessly changing diapers. Not mention the rate your baby grows, you won’t even have time to get him/her into all the super cute outfits from your great aunt. ( Pro tip..ask for sizes up such as 3-6 months or even 9-12 months at your baby shower) It never hurts to have a few items lined up for the day your baby does have a growth spurt.

Let’s talk sleepers, my absolute FAVORITE that we stumbled upon was from the brand Lou Lou & Company. I’ll link them here. They have entire collection of newborn bundles with swaddles, tops and bottoms and bows. The real MVP is their knotted gowns. The fabric is buttery soft and the fact that these are knotted bottoms make diaper changes so simple. PLUS the patterns are to die for. If you are looking for an extremely thoughtful baby shower gift, this is a go to! Otherwise splurge a little mama, the fabric holds up so wonderfully through washes, yup you will be doing a lot of laundry. This company is wonderful and the shipping time was incredible as well. https://www.loulouandcompany.com/collections/knotted-gowns

Second MUST HAVE on my list, bibs and burp cloths! You just can never have enough, never ever. Spit up is definitely something that becomes part of your new wardrobe. Welcome to mom life! This brand that I’m going to share with you was created by a couple of moms who really knew what the market was lacking. All of their products are made with organic fabric, sensitive on skin, and they offer a money back guarantee. My little boy was born with extremely sensitive skin so we needed to make sure the products we were using had no hidden perfumes and had soft textures. This brand won hands down. Our go to is the copper pearl bib bandana. Below you can see a picture of Griff sporting his favorite Copper Pearl look. Not to mention their burp cloths were my favorite, super absorbent and held up when laundering. But wait there is more… they came out with a towel line and yup you guessed it.. TO DIE FOR! Check the link below, they have the cutest patterns and sell them in sets, once again another great baby shower gift!https://www.copperpearl.com/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=628296221&utm_content=30894174775&utm_term=copper%20pearl&gclid=Cj0KCQjwkIGKBhCxARIsAINMioIkBVC1b3km1kQY14MT2DNr_EVcRoonNvSWtbiv9Ixba9FsOCZN2YoaAjHAEALw_wcB

Third Favorite baby item that we still use to this day, is our Hatch! Babies love white noise! The thought is the the second your baby goes to sleep the house needs to be silent, but that’s not true. Think about how much noise they heard while in your tummy. Your stomach noises alone sounded like a vacuum cleaner running. So vacuum the house every time your baby naps! But they sleep every 2 hours…so instead invest in the hatch or you can have an extremely clean house, your choice really! The hatch which is linked below has multiple settings for sounds and lights. They are all soothing sounds to help your little one fall fast to sleep and stay asleep. The light settings are so nice to have because it acts as a night light. It makes light night diaper changes so much easier, you can keep the lights off rather than turning on your bright ceiling light every time baby needs a diaper change. Griff still has his in his room and it’s one of our favorites. https://www.hatch.co/rest?gclid=Cj0KCQjwkIGKBhCxARIsAINMioLKoaSPaHHoaJZgk0RDAeqNGosWly9fTtuZIhJvZQtq834JR2x0QpQaAg32EALw_wcB

The FOURTH MUST HAVE for a newborn as a new parent is a super simple APP. Download it and you are good to go. The Full version will run you a womping bill of $4.99! This app was a life saver for my anxiety-riddled new mom self. Always asking.. Did my baby eat enough? Did he poop enough today? Were there the right amount of wet diapers or is he dehydrated? Sleep! You’ll never understand the confusion sleep can cause until your sleep deprived at 2 am wondering will this baby ever sleep? Will I ever sleep? You will mama, don’t worry. ( I still wonder that some nights, but it’s worth it) This app was a lifesaver, and pumping mamas, this app will be your partner in crime. It tracks which side you last pumped on and how many ounces. It tracks which side baby fed on, it literally tracks everything for you and being sleep deprived you will need all the help you can get! Postpartum brain, or lack thereof, is REAL! Download it and thank me later! https://apps.apple.com/us/app/baby-tracker-newborn-log/id779656557

LAST MUST HAVE is kind of a biggie and kind of pricey but 1000% worth it. Invest into a travel system! There are soooo many on the market and it is super overhwhelming trying to choose what is best for you. We went with the UppaBaby Vista travel system. I did my fair share of research and I will tell you there are several fantastic travel systems out there, this one was just what worked for us. The Mesa infant carseat was hands down the easiest thing I have ever installed into our vehicles and the comfiest little seat for Griff to ride in. As a new parent, carseats are extremely overwhelming. Your little bundle of joy is riding out in the world in the car you are responsible for driving, it stirs all kinds of anxieties. Have no fear with this carseat. It has a top safety rating and seriously guys, the easiest thing ever to install. It comes with a base that installs into your car, we had the latch install and then the carseat just clicks in. We ended up buying a second base to keep in my husbands car just to make transition that much easier. The next best thing, the travel system stroller is a base that comes with three pieces. The infant carseat, the normal stroller seat attachment, and an infant bassinet. So we touched on the carseat, which when out and about and baby is sleeping, you just take the seat from your car attach it to your stroller and away you go! My second favorite part about this stroller for a newborn was the bassinet attachment. It is rated for safe sleeping! We would take Griffin for a walk and if he happened to fall asleep, no worries, we unattached the bassinet from the stroller and brought him inside the house in the little bassinet to remain sleeping. It is the coziest! Now that he is older we use the stroller seat attachment, and it can ride facing you or facing the outside world. The stroller takes bumps and turns so smoothly and it folds up so simply. Not too mention, when baby number too makes an appearance, you just need an attachment and your stroller becomes a double! I could probably write entire post on this stroller and maybe I will but definitely know that it is worth every penny! Side note, keep an eye out for sales during the holidays! We scored ours during Black Friday! https://uppababy.com/vista/

I hope those five suggestions of our newborn must haves helped you out a tad! Aside from all of the diapers, wipes, diaper rash cream, newborn bath items, diaper bag, bassinet, crib, pacifiers, and all of the other things I’m sure you are stocking up on, these are the few items that made my life soooo much easier! Everyone is different and everyone has their own opinion but trust me when I tell you! I’m type A and I did plenty of research for the both of us!
